Players, you are needed to help with the Asian Auction on 13 March at the High School.

Although Coach W can't be there (he has a long-standing appointment in Rome that weekend), players should be available in the afternoon to help with tear-down, pack-up, and clean-up after the auction. The AD and other coaches will be there to supervise. If you can't make it because you don't have a ride, you MUST let Coach W know before the 12th.

Organizational Meeting

Thanks for the great turn-out at the informational meeting. Keep recruiting your classmates! Our next meeting will be during the first week of March, and Coach W will collect paperwork at that time.

Reminders: You MUST have your physical on file before you can begin practicing; you MUST have your medical POA on file prior to practicing.

Our organizational meeting, where you can get your player information form to complete and where you can turn in any paperwork you must have, is scheduled for Thursday, March 4 during HS lunch in Coach W's room (113B). Bring your lunch to the room and eat during the meeting.

Tryouts begin on 8 March. Final cuts will not be announced before 17 March.

Team leaders, you should already be helping condition your teammates (and yourselves).

This camp is held in Naples, Italy and is for the players of United States Military families and NATO ID cardholders based in Napoli. The host club is ASC Napoli (American Soccer Club of Napoli) and is open to boys and girls ages 6-18. Players will be broken up by age and ability level. The camp will be held at the Support Site aboard Naval Support Activity (NSA), Naples, Italy. Each camp participant will receive a Non-Stop Soccer camp T-Shirt. REGISTER WITH MWR YOUTH SPORTS

FMI: vist the ASC web site. Note: NHS/Naples Wildcats Soccer is not affiliated with ASC; however, DoDDS players aren't restricted during off-season. Participation is not in any way required; nor will participation in any way impact the coaching staff's decision on player placement., This camp could be an excellent pre-season conditioning and training opportunity, provided you're in a position to afford the program fee. This link here is offered as an information/opportunity for our players.

Note that Coach W cannot coach potential team members before 10 school days prior to the first match. However, conditioning practices will be held in the early spring. If you are not playing winter sports, you need to participate as a team in this self-directed conditioning routine!

First practice will be Monday, 8 March. Tryouts and Skills Evaluation will begin on the 8th and continue the 9th.

Potential players: keep in mind that this sport requires running-some measures show anywhere between 5 and 7 KM or more in an average match. If you are not already running, you need to start now! When practices begin, you will be running for 45 minutes at a time during various drills and games. While as coach, I don't have teams running miles of laps, you are expected to be able to continuously move (run/jog/sprint) for the length of a match period.

Try-outs for the team will take place the first two days of formal practices, and will be announced in school. Tryouts will cover two afternoons, and players will be expected to attend both sessions. Day one sessions will be fitness and skills evaluation while day two sessions will focus on small-sided and medium-sided match skills evaluations (2v3, 4v4, 6v6). Team placement will be based on scoring on the sessions. This is the link to the tryout form. Note that this form likely will be modified before tryouts take place. The final product will be available from Coach W. beginning on 15 February.

Players, be thinking about what goals you want to set for yourself during the season! We will have several short sessions throughout the entire season to look at personal and team goals. As you think about what short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals you would like to set for yourself, consider these areas: 1) personal skills improvement; 2) improved conditioning; 3) improved field communications; etc. More details during the first week of practice.

Parent and community volunteers are welcome; however, all DoDEA policies on non-employee contact with students will be followed. See the Volunteers page for more information.

Non-playing students who are interested in helping: we will need managers and a videographer. See Coach W. for information.

Team policies and rules are posted on the Rules page. Coach W's coaching philosophy is also posted there for your information.

One important policy I must state firmly and loudly, many times over: I do not, will not, and have not supported any sort of hazing or initiatory rituals. These activities will NOT BE CONDONED ON MY TEAMS! Players-if I even hear rumors that one of my players is talking about hazing another player, I will request administrative action-no excuses, no second chances. If you think you are being hazed, please let me know immediately!
